Work Travels

Long Beach on Tuesday. Ate at a cool spot called The Federal Bar. Looks even better to go to at night as it’s a “speakeasy” with mixologists.

Seattle on Friday. I wish I had time to spend here and eat fresh fish on the pier! Fortunately there were several really good restaurants in the airport. Seafood restaurants that are also good to go to outside of the restaurant. This was one of the nicest airports I’ve ever been to! There was a pianist playing near where I was eating. And there was also someone playing guitar and singing in a different part of the airport.

My actual birthday…

For some reason, as I got closer to turning 35, I was not looking forward to it. This year alone, I’ve started noticing a few grey hairs and  fine lines/wrinkles on my face. Literal signs of aging. I have somewhat forgot my age as I quit counting after 29. My 30th birthday was just a few months before our wedding, so we didn’t make a big deal after that. Then Kessler arrived just a few weeks after my 31st. Then once December came after that, my focus has been on her birthday and planning birthday parties for her.

So, here I am at 35 years old. Sure my age is 35. And yes I am at the (very) early stages of grey hairs and wrinkles. But if all of those things mean I get to be a young adult, married to my best friend and raising 2 beautiful girls, then so be it. I wouldn’t change any of that for the world.

If I look at 35 as being 1/3 through my life (if I’m blessed to live close to 100) there are definitely things I know I need to work on or not worry about. It’s easier said than done, but I will try to live the next 1/3 of my life by this quote:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” ― Steve Jobs

My childhood friend, Laine, was so sweet to take me to Charleston’s for lunch. Birthday bonus was seeing sweet Nori!

Eric and the girls took me to Bob’s in Grapevine foe dinner.

Sunday Randomness at Home

I was exhausted after last night, and I fell asleep to Kessler holding me (and she always asks me to hold her). And she fell asleep herself! There’s nothing sweeter than when your child can comfort you & show you love!

Nobu Bday Dinner

For my birthday dinner, Eric took me to Nobu and we got the Omakase – Chef’s Exclusive Tasting. 8 delicious courses over a 2 hour period, and one of the best overall meals I’ve ever had!
