Holland turns 2!!

IMG_4638My sweet baby girl has turned 2!! I’m happy and sad all at the same time. She is less of a baby every single day, yet I love her little personality. She is spunky, aggressive and loves to laugh. She clearly feels the need to fight for what she wants and doesn’t shy away from anything. She is very adventurous and was ready to go down a big slide when she was 1, she only likes to ride the big kid swings and steps on an escalator without giving it a second thought. She is always ready to “move forward” without thinking – which I can’t help but love about her, but it clearly makes me nervous!

We were a tad nervous that she wasn’t talking for a while, but she does say a new word every few days now. And sometimes I can’t understand the word, but I can understand what she means. She can point to all letters of the alphabet. I just feel like she is coasting right along as she should for a 2 year old.

She loves books and reading. She especially loves those “Look & Find” books with the hidden pictures.

I can’t wait to see what this next year holds with this sweet girl. She certainly makes my heart melt with every little thing she does!

Cute Chica Stories

Several incidents this evening I don’t want to forget…

1. Holland likes to run around naked before & after bath. As I was helping K put on her pj’s, & we were singing Frozen, Sissy comes running in the room saying, “Boo boo! Boo boo!” And beckoning us to follow her. To my dismay, she had pooped right on the floor! Girl really needs to know what the toilet is for.

2. When it was time to read Sissy her bedtime stories (I usually read to the girls separately) I told Kess she could come sit and read with us. All of a sudden, Holland goes over and opens the door, and starts yelling at Kessler & clearly pointing for her to leave. I tried to tell Holland that Kessler was staying, but she wasn’t having it. When K finally left, H went over to shut the door with the happiest look on her face!

3. I was reading Kessler a story from her new favorite book collection, Katie Woo. In the book, Katie gets lost in a corn maze, then asks a question at the end if you’ve  ever been lost. I wasn’t sure if Kessler would remember, but certainly she remembered getting lost that one time in “the shoe store” at Nordstroms. I was certain she wouldn’t remember!

Whole30 Officially Begins!

I am excited to commit 100% to the Whole30 eating plan starting today, 3/6. It’s important to note this is not a diet. Rather an opportunity to cleanse your body of processed foods, chemicals, etc. My diet for years was 2 strawberry frosted pop tarts in the AM, then blue box Mac & Cheese for lunch.  Along with any other packaged foods and drinks. I’ve gotten better by eating oatmeal for breakfast and fresher foods, but I’ve always snuck in junk food for snacks, etc. I’ve been loosely following Whole30 for a few weeks (like still drinking wine when alcohol is to be avoided), but wanted to wait until after our NYC trip to fully commit. I have to avoid packaged/processed food, sugar, dairy, bread, beans, etc. I’m excited about cleansing my body, restarting my metabolism and avoiding chemicals. I’m thankful I can eat potatoes and guacamole 🙂

My last day will be Monday, 4/4, so here goes! I wonder what foods I will be able to re-introduce and tolerate after these 30 days. I will miss bread, rice, wine & oatmeal the most. I’ve already adjusted to black coffee, but do miss the cream & Truvia I’d put in it that I would crave every morning – I don’t crave it anymore! That was my body just wanting that sugar.

I love that Kessler enjoys sharing healthy food with me 🙂
